From Powder to Solid Rod
During ram extrusion, repeated ram strokes compact the powder and advance it through heated tooling. Heat and pressure consolidate the material into a solid rod, followed by controlled cooling.
In the production process shown, consolidation takes place within the extrusion system. The rods do not require a separate post-extrusion sintering cycle and can proceed to downstream handling and cutting.
Production Flexibility for UHMWPE and PTFE
The same equipment platform can produce both UHMWPE and ПТФЭ rods. Material changeover involves changing the mold, cleaning the material path, and applying the appropriate heating, pressure, ram cycle, and cooling settings.
For PTFE, sintering occurs within the heated tooling. For UHMWPE, the powder is consolidated under heat and pressure. SUKO customers use these machines for either material individually or for both materials.
Automation and Downstream Equipment
The video focuses on rod extrusion. SUKO can also integrate automatic feeders, powder storage bins, rod support and lifting platforms, and cut-to-length cutting machines into the production line.
These systems automate powder delivery, extrusion, rod handling, and cutting, while operators oversee replenishment, quality checks, and maintenance.
